I was happy to be able to work in a shoutout to Uecker in my summer song. Here are the lyrics for anyone who is interested, although this site is not letting me format them to show breaks between verses. Oh well. Thanks for listening.
It’s 5:00 and I’m flying home
As fast as I can
Find you standing on the porch
A half-drank mojito in your hand
That look in your eyes
Says all that there is to say
We’ve been waiting
9 long months for this day
Finish that drink, mix us up another
We’ll pack up the kids and leave them with your mother
It’s the first night of summer
Baby, I’m taking you out
Everywhere you look
You see the signs
The roadside stands are open
Clothes are out on the line
The smell of charcoal
Is blowing in from the patio
Uecker’s calling play by play on the radio
Kids next door are selling Kool-aid for a quarter
Days are getting longer; skirts are getting shorter
It’s the first day of summer
Baby I’m taking you out
There’s a rooftop party at a bar downtown
Or we could roll down the windows and drive around
Just drive around
Do you remember when we were young
And still in school
We’d hop my neighbor’s fence
For a midnight dip in his pool
Lie down in the grass
And look up at the summer sky
Count the shooting stars
As they went dancing by
The Southern Cross is flying high above you
Tonight I’m gonna show you just how much I love you
It’s the first night of summer
Baby I’m taking you out

Sheesh Jason – is it difficult getting heaped with praise every week?
Loved it – can’t wait to hear what happens this week.
